I treat notifications on my phone as a task list. I have my phone at my desk and I see the screen light up, and at the back of my mind I know there’s something up I have to look up later. Since I have notifications trimmed down to the essential, this is a good heuristic for me.
For most of my communication needs with friends/family, I use iMessage, and the biggest annoyance, starting from (I think) iOS 16 for me (or the last time I set-up an iPhone from scratch), but I found references of this functionality in the iPhone OS 3.1 User Guide(!!!), was a second notification for every message that got sent to me, delivered after exactly 2 minutes.
Francesco and I were about to go crazy for this.
Today I learned this is a “feature” (and I’m generous with my language here) of iMessages.
To keep my mental sanity:
Settings -> Notifications -> Messages -> Customize Notifications -> Repeat Alerts -> Never
